Beyond the Slogans: The True Cost of War
Revenge taken !
Jai Ho !
This is the new India !
You must have heard and read these slogans flooding the comment sections over the past few days.
“War”, for some it is just a word to talk about, to celebrate victory, and for some it’s a trending hashtag;
But for some – a dreaded knock on the door that takes their loved ones away, never to return.
The loudest cheer for war doesn’t come from the soldier’s family nor from the people living in border states.
They come from the living rooms, from the comfort of homes where peace is a privilege taken for granted.
Glorifying war by just sitting and sipping coffee is the worst thing we can do.
Ask the grieving mother, whose heart aches with the loss of her son.
Ask the newly wedded wife, who watched her love slip away in an instant.
Ask the son and daughter, whose childhood was stolen by the absence of their father.
Because behind every victory declared there is a family crying because they lost someone.
War is not just about strength and power;
it is about destruction and pain – the never ending pain that lingers far beyond the battlefield.
Even in Operation Sindoor, while the nation hailed it as a moment of triumph, many households were plunged into silence and sorrow.
It served as a reminder that every operation, no matter how successful, carries a cost paid in human lives.
Celebrating victories is essential, but we must never forget the cost that comes with them.
We have to be the generation that chooses empathy over aggression, peace over distraction.
We must stop glorifying war as a symbol of strength and victory.
The True Strength lies in the Courage to seek Peace,
to Heal the Wounds that divide us,
and to Understand the Suffering that comes with every life lost.
