We are so devoted to our celebrities!
On 3rd June 2025 we all sat in front of our TV screens, cheering, screaming and living every ball as if we were on the pitch ourselves.
And finally RCB won for the first time in 18 years.
But was it the glory of just one night?
Who thought that the very next day, red wouldn’t just be the colour of RCB’s jersey—but also the colour of spilled blood?
So many people died just because of the excitement for stars they had seen on TV.
How necessary is it?
But was it necessary? Is the question we need to ask ourselves.
Who is to blame?? Was the chaos avoidable? Did the crowd’s enthusiasm get out of hand or did the authorities fail to plan a smooth celebration?
Just a few hours of excitement turned into a lifetime of grief for many, because they lost their loved ones who will never come back.
The fine line between celebration, and devotion to the new Gods
A 13 Year-old child was also among those who lost their lives.
Now ask yourself: Is it worth risking your children’s lives for a celebrity? Who even shields their children’s faces from the media, Ironic right?
What should have been a peaceful celebration, lives were lost in a stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Where Fans crowded beyond control, trying to catch a glimpse of their cricketing idols. They have started taking celebrity worship to a whole new level, literally risking their lives for a glimpse of their idols.
It’s like they’ve become gods, and their followers are willing to do anything to prove their devotion.
When we start taking cricketers or any other celebrities as gods, we forget that they are humans too and worst of all we forget we are humans too.
The people have given their lives for those who don’t even know that they exist.
Let’s just watch not worship
Why can’t the celebration just be a celebration instead of pure devotion? We have to consider that yes RCB have won the cup but we have lost something big. We have to remember the fans who didn’t come back home.
Also understand who your Gods are, and understand yourself too
We have to bring humanity back into the celebration.
Understand that, humans do attain levels of awesome talent; but that does not make them Gods by being good at Sports, or by excelling in any skill as Actors or Musicians, or even politicians.
Stop treating them them like Gods and stop treating yourselves as die-hard devotees.
There is no sense in a celebration that kills you.
And teach your next generation as well
We have to teach the next generation that loving a team or an idol doesn’t mean losing your sense.
